Le culte de Bandera et Choukhevytch dans l’enseignement ukrainien

fontsizeup fontsizedown

« Imposing the cult of Bandera and Shukhevych in Ukrainian schools is a crime against children. It is based on intentional disinformation, manipulation, and historical distortion in the name of national interests. The goal of this is to raise fanatics and chauvinists — loyal soldiers of the nation-state — who will be ready to kill their neighbors when the ’right time’ comes. This indoctrination disregards and erases the value of human life and should have no place in a democratic Ukraine. » Marta Havryshko [1], 9 mars 2025

Roman Shukhevych

« Holocaust revisionism and Nazi apology in Lviv

Lviv City Council initiated "Lesson of Remembrance" in city schools to honor Roman Shukhevych. I wonder if children are being told that he served as an officer in the German formation Nachtigall, which was responsible for killing Jews. Or about his service in the 201st Battalion and its war crimes in Belarus ? Or that the UPA, under his command, killed tens of thousands of Polish children, women, and men ? Or how UPA fighters hunted and killed Jews in the forests ?

School students of all ages watched propagandist films, were told to draw portraits of the hero and discuss his glorious life and death.

In this way, entire generations of Ukrainians are growing up with lies about Nazi Germany being the lesser evil and the notion that ethnic violence and terror are legitimate means of the national liberation struggle. »
